Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463 | That is a early Oliver model 588. It could be set up as four bottom 18" or 20".
There were a very few Oliver green 588 plows. The 588 came out shorty before the switch to calling them White and red paint.
Latter model 588 had the front cross piece with a curve at the backbone end.
Late 588 are hard to tell from model 549 [16" or 18" setting] because they both have the curve.
Unless the operator does a just plain terrible job of setting the plow, it will plow corn stalks under when about anything else on the market plugs up.
The best there was.
I have a 588 6 by 20". It was at the 1974 Farm Progress Show. Has Oliver green paint under the White red. |
