sw ontario | If you are interested in owning that farm put in a real aggressive bid and ask for a "right of first refusal".....rental is short term 1-5 yrs. and even if you lose some money farming it you have your foot in the door and maybuy it for less than your offer in a couple of yrs. FWIW a guy not too far away offers big cash rent to older farmers and after 1-2 yrs. goes back andsays how bad things are and we have too change too a share crop or lower rent...........and LL often agrees to safe face.... don't condone or think its right but like NAT guys say "its just business" .......good thing about rents is they may hurt for a bit but not like 20 yrs. of over paying on a mortgage....good luck | |
