| It's priorities and balance. I enjoy going on vacation, but I don't have a dirt bike, quad, snow mobile, camper, boat, or any of the others toys. I took a 6 month working holiday to Australia a 6 years ago, a 2 month internship in Costa Rica 3 or 4 years ago, return trip to Costa Rica the next year for two weeks, and a trip to Vegas last year. The trip to Vegas was alright, but definitely wasn't my choice of destination.
If you want to go on vacation, go on vacation. If you'd rather spend the vacation money on a higher model of truck, a newer tractor than you really need, kitchen renos for the wife, or a truckload of bouncy balls, do whatever makes you happy. I wouldn't advise borrowing money to go on vacation because "you deserve it", but if it's a priority for you and you can pull it off, travel to your hearts content. Or don't. Some people have different opinions on whether travelling is worth it. There's nothing wrong with not doing something those around you are.
