Embarrass WI | I spent a lot of years criticizing(in my mind only) my acquaintances who took vacations. My thinking was, "There's plenty of time for that, use that money to pay off debt or improve the farm."
I was WRONG. I had that lesson drove home when a casual friend of mine, healthy as anyone, just tipped over dead at age 52. I then fully realized that tomorrow is not guaranteed. You have to maintain a balance and keep tomorrow in mind, since it is likely-but putting everything off until tomorrow CAN bite you in the butt.
I learned the same difficult lesson Chris did, I buried my wife last March. We had a lot of plans, things we were going to do after we retired. Thankfully, we had not waited to start doing them or she would have never been able to do any of them.
I heard this once, way back when I was a teenager, I remembered it but didn't live it-"Keep putting off everything until tomorrow and all you'll end up with is a bunch of empty yesterdays." | |
