| Does your mom drive? If she does then she can still be independent. Went through the same thing with my mom. My dad died nine years ago and mom was 82 then. She didn't drive but she wanted to stay in her house yet. She worked part time at a cheese store for something to do and meet people. She finally retired at 89.5 and that is when she started getting lonely. Finally this past year she told my oldest brother that she couldn't spend another winter alone in the house. Boy he jumped on that and called all four of the siblings. He checked out one place and I told him of another place. We checked it out first and she had friends living there. It is not assisted living, just senior apartments with a noon dinner provided and chair exercise, bingo, coffee klutch etc. she loves it. Is there a place like that? Oh, she sold her house in three days. Everything fell into place. | |
