When you report yields for crop insurance, do you, or are you allowed to put the moisture back in for yields? Say a field of soys came off at 10%. Can you un shrink them for crop insurance reporting back up to the 13%. It would make a bit of difference on the APH. Would that be allowable under RMA rules?

No must use moisture you sold at or sample adjuster pulls from the bin.

Reason I was asking is I read the posts about the grain fan controllers that put moisture back in. Was trying to see where it could pay for itself. Sounds like mixed results, if it was a sure thing, then adding humidity to un shrinking the beans would be very interesting.

The bin manager systems take time to adjust the moisture of grain. If you were audited by crop ins and the adjusters measurements were short in a prior year one would think that would be to your benefit as its hard to argue with grain settlement sheets.

My work uses the intellifarms bin manager and it's on every bin that's not a cone bin.

lawfarms -

I am curious about that app/program. How do you like the intellifarms system?

Thanks

It's good when you store grain awhile.

If you are waiting to sell july corn a lot can go screwy if you bin it and forget it. Also if beans are really dry you can add moisture to them but it takes awhile.

The program will email or text you if a bin gets a hot spot or issue so that's handy.

I've got that same moisture system. On our 42 ft bin I've got 3 10hp fans. Put in 23% moisture corn and have it dryed down to 14.5. On our 36 ft bin there is 2 10hp fans. Put in 8.5% beans and almost have the bin up to 12.5%. In my situation, there is no doubt I've paid for the system in 2 years.

Beans push up not out. I'm not very old, but I have never heard of or seen an actual bin full of beans bust and split open. Not sure how far they actually moved up. It's been cold and rainy and I haven't really took the time to crawl up and look.

Here when the adjustor was out he corrected every thing to 15% moisture for corn. Added bu. for 12 and subtracted for 17.
