I have some land that I rent that is owned by 2 siblings(not related to me). One wants to sell and the other does not. They have agreed to allow me to buy an undivided interest but as I understand there is usually a discount. The sibling selling understands this as well. He wants his sibling to keep their share and does not want the expense of an auction. They have had it appraised. Anybody had any experience with this and if so what should the discount be?
A 50 - 50 partnership is a partnership that doesn't really work long term. You either have to agree or you can't do anything.
As far as ownership you might be able to do something where you have a non surveyed 50% interest so you would own the N 1/2 or whatever you want to call it without surveying the piece.
Would also recommend a preferential to you access to the sale of the remaining interest if possible! |
