Bang on. Figure out how much you are saving by using your dad's barn , loader tractor etc. The yardage really depends on the quality of the facilities. Then tell him how much you are saving and tell him you really appreciate the use of facilities and equipment. This will mean more to him than any financial compensation. You can offer to keep track of hours put on tractor and/or pay him a monthly or per head fee for use of barn.

When I was your age, I was paid fairly for working on the farm and I never expected my parents to pay for any of my endeavours. I always appreciated this and it has made me a much better business person today.
