SC Kansas | Stuttering is related to air flow. There are exercises and breathing patterns you can work on to maintain proper air flow. I stuttered into college. Then I was paired with a really cute speech pathology intern. She motivated me to consistently work on my speech. Once I did my breathing exercises daily it improved. Confidence followed....
Circumlocution is what it's called when the learn to talk "around" certain words that they will have a "Block" pronouncing.
I did speech sessions as an elementary student. It didn't help much. I could manage and my friends didn't care so I blew it off I suppose. Once I decided I wanted to overcome the problem .....the science and therapy is solid.
Btw. I read once that stutterers have an avg IQ that is 10 points above average. Maybe they listen more and talk less. Lol
My two cents. | |
