NE IL | My dad has a plot through the U of I near Kempton with a fairly extensive trap system they put up to catch emerged beetles in the corn and also trap adults in nearby soybeans. The goal is to evaluate trapped adults for trait resistance. This is an area where trait resistance has been confirmed. According to my dad as of late summer the university was planting pumpkins as a trap crop because they hadnt caught enough to evaluate. Where I live, near Manteno, I have 2 acres of pumpkins and through the whole season saw 1 or 2. This is unusual because in the past we have found them not only in pumpkins but soybeans, corn, and everywhere. | |
