Maybe we do measure it backwards. The same thing has been going on in industry since the invention of the wheel . Started on the East coast with the Manufacturing business, all was rosy as production couldn't keep up with demand. Once production was ramped up and demand started to go down. The next generation of workers found no place to work. Employment decreased and now there was an abundance of workers. So each state started to compete for business, the rust belt expanded and thanks to lower taxes in some states the work has moved south. That will work well till the second or third generation and we will be back where we started. it is going to always be a mess until the markets expand to meet production capacity. Then throw in the world wide competition now and it doesn't seem like there is any light at the end of the tunnel. And so it goes |
