central - east central Minnesota - | jwinga - 11/26/2015 10:10 My son bought a 96 6.5 tahoe with a bad injection pump for a project about a year ago. We almost have everything straightened out on it except one small problem that has me stumped at the moment. When it is NOT running the alternator gets hot enough that you cannot put your hand on it, changed alternators and still have the same problem, any ideas? He hunted for one of these for a year or two before finding one close by, evidently a two door Tahoe 6.5 is pretty hard to come by its the only one I have ever seen in person. Sorry, can't help with your issue . . . . but, wanted to share, I have a half ton 4x4 6.5 suburban. Very few of those ever made also. I didn't know they offered the diesel in the Tahoe also . . . . . . Is your son's a 4x4 or 2x4 ? Please post pic's of it some time. Love to see them. P.S. my 6.5 has 235,000 miles or so now . . . .still going strong. Had a 95 6.5 in a pickup trk that went to 320,000 or so miles and hatched the motor ~ |
