North Central Illinois
I think John Denver is an acquired taste and it depends largely on when you were born. If you are from an era when folk singers were popular you probably like him okay. I will admit that a lot of his songs were pretty corny and designed to appeal to country folks. He seemed to have this wholesome all American persona which turned out to be a load of crap. While he was deeply concerned with nature and the outdoors in general, he had a dark side. He was a pot head, alcoholic, and from many indications had a violent streak at home. I do enjoy several of his songs but if I had to listen to him all day it would probably drive me nuts. As someone else mentioned I would take John Denver over the majority of crap that passes for music today.
