Seems like it showed up pretty good in most plots but we all know what plots are worth so was wondering how it did out in the field for the guys who planted it. Thinking of trying some next year so any comments would be appreciated.

Its not bad.....best way I have heard it put "it's either a hero or a zero".

If its not on your best ground, then you will be disappointed.

There has got to be a better hybrid on your farm than that. Did you plant it side by side anywhere?

DO NOT spray with growth regulators!!

Pretty sure P is gonna sell the manure out of that number. I will have a few bags this year and it will most likely be in my plot again next year as well. I was very impressed with how well it did in my plot after the mid season wind tore it up. If you like high (meaningless) kernel counts don't buy it.

From what I have seen 0157 is going to be a solid hybrid for Pioneer. The only thing I would say is if you put it side by side with other brands it will match up more to 104 day corn than 101. Otherwise looks to be a great new product for them.

Agree. I had it beside 53-56 and moistures at harvest were the same. Yields were the same too, but my 0157 was nongmo fwiw .

Way overrated, IMO, but pioneer is relying heavily on it. There's a lot of better products out there priced much better.

Way overrated?? I think that is being a little harsh. They are all overrated to some extent. All I know is that when I sprayed my corn I had a little snort of northstar in the tank mix. It really seemed to promote the greensnap with this hybrid. I was in some other fields of 0157 right in the same neighborhood that hardly had any at all. I am almost certain that is what was wrong with it.

Aside from that I thought it was one of the most solid hybrids P has for my RM range in a long time. It held up quite nicely against its neighbors in my plot. Not to mention a few neighbors had some tremendous yields with it. But all of that was in a very good year. Have to see how it holds up to some stress.

Harsh? Just my opinion. When it's the so called "top number" for a company and can't even get in the top 10 in my farm plot with 4 companies, that seems a bit over rated to me.

I had some side by side with 0216 and the 0216 was better when I compared half a dozen full field length passes of each. The 0157 did stand better. We had the remnants of a hurricane pass through before we got it off. The tops were all broke off of the 0157 which made it look ugly from the road, but it stood real well, especially compared to some other varieties that I still had out. These comparisons were on our best ground and strictly yield monitor data, FWIW.

We are just finishing shelling as i type this and it stands like a tree. We have had lots of high winds lately and other hybrids were down 2 weeks ago or more and 157 standing perfect. Yeild wise i would say one of the best numbers we had i a few years did very well on all soil types and we have them all. There were several side by sides in the area this year by die hard monsanto guys and it blew them all away i guess it must be a here thing. Everyone i talked with had nothing but good to say about it maybe it was just in our area i guess but we planted 400 bags of it and will plant just as much next year. Have ahappy thanksgiving everyone i know i will enjoy it more now that the corns done take care

Well, it performed well "here" on whole-field situations. I plant mostly other stuff but 0157 was very competitive with later corns, approximately even with 54-38 and 53-56. Stood well.

We had it in split plantered with DK53-56. The Dekalb beat it pretty bad and stood much better too. It was on one of our best farms.

Interesting how different the same varieties can act in different places and conditions. We had the AM version next to 53-56. We weighed them side by side split planter. Full round on half mile field. P0157 was 250.9 bu dry and DKC53-56 was 229.1. Monitor reflected similar results across the field. Well drained rolling ground with low fertility. Wind storm in July hit 53-56 harder. We also sprayed fungicide so that may have played a factor too.

Ours was good, but nothing spectacular. Seems to have very consistent kernal counts. Every ear I saw and my neighbors saw the same thing were 16x38 almost to the dot. We had it split plant on quite a few acres mostly against Dekalb 51-19 and 50-63. It beat the 51-19 most of the time and lost to the DK 50-63. The 50-63 was some of the more impressive corn we had out this year. 2014 in this area was much more friendly to the P0157 than 2015 because it needs double ears to push huge yields and last year it double eared like crazy this year just didn't happen. Will have a very high market share in our part of the world in 2016. For those complaining about the price of P0157 don't even begin to look at the P0339. P0339 is stupid expensive.

I didn't have any but a lot of neighbors who did said it performed well. I think its a corn that likes a perfect growing season and if it faces some adversity along the way it'll be average. I'll go out on a limb and say next year there will be a lot of disappointed producers with it. That said, I'm gonna bite and plant a little bit of it. I feel like its like being at a craps table and placing a bet on the number that has just been rolled 3 times in a row only to have a 7 get rolled.

Edit:
What about 0589? I know its later for MN but darn near every plot I've seen it in, it has been winning. We had a plot bag of it and 3 rows x 1/4 mile and it yielded very well. Its certainly a full season hybrid for southern MN thou.

One of our better yielders this year on ok ground. Emergence was great, health was great, over 200bpa average and 16% moisture. I'll plant it again no doubt.

It beat my NK sample by 18 bu. This was on a half mile sample replicated 3 times. It was 2 points higher in moisture. Its was 238. I will plant some more of it if it is competitively priced. It is the first time i've planted any pioneer in 3 years and I guess they want me back as a customer because they gave me 6 bags (I put 6 in half the planter and the other half the NK because I have a 12 row planter and a 12 row corn head). It gave me a very good sample. An honest sample. The problem is that I buy the NK for $179 (I think) and the reason I quit P before was the price plus I had some lodging issues with the numbers I planted. I had no lodging with the 157. It stood very well. By the way, this was on my best ground and this was all done over a scale with the elevator measuring moisture. Test weight was 57 on P and 58 on NK.
