Ridgway, IL | I also heard that a lot of cattle had traded for up to 4wk out delivery, and those cattle are now getting called in by the packer.
I think I read that last weeks kill was only 3k hd higher than 1 yr ago, and that's the first time for a year on year increase in numbers for almost 2 years. Hardly burdensome.
Yes kill weights are high, have they peaked? Seasonally this is that time. Declining supplies I tot he 4th quarter. What if bad weather knocks an additional 10-20lb of kill weights for a few weeks?
I remain 50% hedged on inventory, and target low 150s on feb and April board to sell more. Mid to upper 140s off the jun. sure wish I had a place to put some of them 900$ 5 wt steers that were trading last week. | |
