Subject: RE: cover crop in wheat-wheat rotation

SC Kansas
Our DC beans are a harvestable cover crop, but I just don't know about the acres going back to wheat. Essentially I'd like to hold down weeds while lowing the evaporation from bare ground. This will be a good year for beans and corn and milo for us, but when guys say it's dry and they have a down corn/bean year in the corn belt, I'm not sure they realize that a down year means "0" here (and where you are). I'd like to make cover crops work, I just can't get my mind around using moisture and extra costs to potentially raise less crops.
