Dawn, Missouri | Our youngest son plowed a small field next to the house last fall that had been in pasture and hay land for at least 30 years. I didn't want to farm it because of erosion. He stayed up on he flat land and planted it to soybeans in late May. We had twice the normal rain and many of the neighbors took prevented planting. They combined the beans two days ago and they made 73.2 bu. Most of the neighborhood beans were planted in July IF they were planted at all. We haven't had a decent rain in 3 or 4 weeks and I am sure they won't yield much. He also fertilized heavy and we got the rain. The plowed land was able to handle all the early summer rain this time.
