N FLA | I'm not buying any bred cows. Those prices would get some bought here. But if cull cows are 0.83 and calves $750, and good winter grazing $100/acre I'm not sure it adds up any better than a $400 cow grazed 150 days and sold as $700 cow. Or kept if she's bred back for fall calving and I have enough grass. I don't know. Always looking for others ideas. It is a lot easier for me to get a thin open cow through October to December than a thin cow with a calf by her side. They are tough to pull through until ryegrass is ready in January. The fat cows are no problem. I don't mind using their condition to get them through our forage quality gap. Thin cows it doesn't work.
