SW So Dakota | About a month ago I helped my neighbor precondition his calves. He had been battling summer pneumonia, doctoring a few every day. The day we rounded up there were some sick ones, in fact one was so sick we didn't bring him in and he died later that day. He was still doctoring calves so he decided to mass treat everything with Draxxin about 10 days ago and did some nasal swabs to look for the bug that was causing the problem and the vet cultured Corona virus. There is no vaccine for it and the virus itself won't kill the calf but it takes them down so some bacteria can take over and give them pneumonia. My cattle are right across the fence so I'm sure it's in my herd too. I swear it's always something. | |
