Subject: 9870 engine Fan bearing fail UPDATE

N East Sask, Canada
At dealership today and GUESS WHAT? I had a conversation with another horribly unlucky 9870 owner. His fan destroyed both rads also at just over 1400 hours. Similar $18000 CAD bill.
So have there been any more failures since my post? Two at one dealership with in 50 miles of each other similar hours on engine! Must have been dozens in all of NA. This time Deere stocked up on his parts, I had to wait for days. Perhaps a run on rads? Let us all know.

Original post....At 1346 engine hours, the fan destroys both rads and itself. Apparently bearing failure. $12k just parts. Has this happened to you? Need to remove tension from belt to check bearing and play. Deere service manager for Sk stated that the fan bearings and shaft are "under high load" in combine app.
