Subject: RE: Our milo

South Central Kansas, Harper County
My thoughts exactly! Milo has been my most profitable crop the past few years, but may re-think my options for next year, if this aphid problem is an ongoing event! Strangely enough(but probably the Chinese interest) milo has been worth more than corn, the past few years, and it was a no brainer in my area, as 100 bu milo was easily more attainable than 100 bu corn, at less cost! Now, things may have gotten back to the norm, corn is worth 15 cents(basis in our area) more than milo. If you throw in the minimum 2 sprayings for aphids this year, milo isnt such a slam dunk when compared to corn. For me, the chemical cost for corn and milo have been relatively the same through the years, in our area. Will do some heavy pencil pushing this winter to see which I like the best, for net returns next year.
