SW Ohio | We tried it once in the 80's, complete disaster, don't remember any of the numbers as to yield or price or anything, just remember what a pain it was to handle and mostly the fact that the top third of plant was ready to combine, middle third was four days later and bottom third was ten days later, if you wait till the middle was ready, the top was shelled out on the ground and the bottom was still green. might have worked if you could swath it but at that time it was just not adapted to Ohio, had a few thousand acres enrolled in the trial around here and nobody did it more than two years. Still have volunteer coming up in the hay fields, maybe it came with the seed? | |
