What's odd is that we so seldom see it anymore (hence the OP's question about it). What has caused it to be so rare? Increased disease pressure obviously, but what has that developed? I know a portion of the crowd will suggest heavy glyphosate use over time. Whatever it is, something has given these plant diseases a legu up on our crops that they didn't used to have.
Those who claim we've reached a yield plateau might point to this issue as a part of that puzzle as well. Late season diseases don't allow for a crop to finish strong. We often stumble to the finish line rather than sprint strong thru the tape. | |
