Wisconsin | Cool(er) air should be used to maintain acceptable grain temperature, you need warm(er) air to dry grain effectively. Yes, cold air carries less water in, it also is less effective at carrying water out. For corn, I find it works best to run 24/7 most of the time, while paying attention to the equilibrium charts and air temp/humidity. I turn it off in the middle of the day if the air is extremely warm and dry, i.e. too far below my target moisture for a long period(several hours) of time. I get 14.5% out in the first load, and 12.75-13.75% for the rest of the bin doing it this way. | |
