Subject: Yield impact due to weather...

Liberty, IN
We planted corn and beans from May 2 to may 8.

From the 8th to June 6th we received 6 tenths. From there to end of July about 22 inches. Got 2 inches the beginning of August. Since then we have had just under a half inch and warm weather in east central Indiana this week. Gray leaf was below ear until late July when it became wide spread above ear at that point. Lots of speculation on finishing out crops.

Beans populations were around 120000 and in some areas less due to compaction issues. Pioneer agronomist advised us to leave it be at populations around 85000. Looking at about 45 pod average across the board. Some areas really good, some not in the same fields.

Corn population around 32500. Ears size 16 by 35 on average.

Stuff turning quick. would be surprised if we are not in fields in 4 weeks.

Obviously it's just pure speculation and we won't know til we start running, but what are your thoughts on the detriment caused by lack of rain and gray leaf. Things from a yield standpoint looked promising a few weeks ago.
