Southwest Missouri | I agree that the market is the market. We can not really change it. We have to deal with it.
We sold calves for record prices this year. An adjoining 160 acres could be bought. It is grass and timber land. If I do not buy it, someone else will. Someone else will buy it.
I would really like to own it. At current calf prices I could make it work. I am not willing to gamble that prices will not retreat. I expect they will. I will have to pass on this purchase. That is life.
History shows that the efficient business will make money over the long haul. The poorly run businesses will loose money. The others will break even.
Every time I hear "we have reached a new plateau, prices will not go down to where they were", I cringe. | |
