Subject: Todays Census Report__Who Cares?

SE Ia
It's always interesting to note average farm size and income.

I noted the average age of farmers in 2012 was 58, so I raised the average age.

There were 87,413,045 census acres of corn harvested in 2012 and total harvest of 10,333,410,150 bushels.

There were 76,104,780 census acres of Soybeans harvested in 2012 and total harvest of 2,926,822,777 bushels.

I was curious enough to look back at the final 2012 Crop Production report: http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu/usda/nass/CropProdSu//2010s/2013/Cr...

A couple lines of interest in the final Crop production report for 2012 linked above:

Acres of corn 87,375,000 with 10,780,296,000 bushels harvested.

Acres of soybeans 76,104,000 with 3,014,998,000 bushels harvested.

edited: added a 0 and "2012" a couple places
