Why would that be? A quick glance at the Steercommand manual clearly lists three steering modes. Valve, Mechanical Steering Unit, and CAN Bus/Iso Controllers.

Quote from SteerCommand manual, pg 9.

"System is designed to be compatible with many makes and models of vehicles available in today’s
agricultural market. The system is brand neutral and can be installed on any manufacturer’s vehicle
including AGCO, Ag Chem, Case, Challenger, Fendt, John Deere, New Holland, Massey Ferguson, and
many others. The system is also capable of being installed on a variety of platforms including articulated
tractors, combines, MFWD and standard front axle tractors, floaters, sprayers, swathers, track tractors,
and others. Same user interface can be used on all vehicles, regardless of make or model, making it
easy for drivers to become familiar with controls even if the system is installed on multiple vehicle types.
To make installations simple and reliable, many vehicle-specific installation kits have been designed to
fit on each individual make and model. These kits are available for vehicles that come from factory with a
factory installed steering system (ex. Steer Ready, CAN Bus, or ISO Ready) as well as options for those
vehicles that need a complete steering kit installed. Even if there is not a vehicle-specific kit available for
vehicle, properly trained installers can use a generic installation kit to connect system to vehicle. Specific
instructions for vehicle installation kits are provided with installation kits. Refer to those instructions when
installing vehicle kit."
