on our 9770 the bottom pullies will wear a gruve in the shaft were they normaly run . After replacing the pully halves and getting the gruves out so the pullies don't catch. Belts wear better and cooler. We use high temp grease now and replace upper bearings each year. When we have the belt off we make sure the front pully slides easy and that the cogs inside don't catch.
