Subject: 2188 troubles

Hamer, South Carolina
3rd day of cutting corn and combine developed this problem. It will be cutting right along and the engine will die like it is running out of fuel and if I am fast enough to stop, the engine will catch back up and run fine for 5 to 30 minutes and start this all over again. There seems to be plenty of fuel at the water separator and it is new. The fuel filter has been on for 30 hrs. If I don't get it stopped and it chokes down, the engine will crank over like it has no fuel unless I switch it off and back on and wait for a minute of so, then it will fire right up. It will also die down when unloading or just driving through the field with the rotor and header off. The combine seems to run low in the voltage gauge, but has a brand new alternator on it. If I shut down for 15-30 minutes it will run fine for a hour or so before it starts again. I am leaning to ward lift pump getting weak, but can't find what the pump pressure should be. Thanks for any advice Steve.
