How many rows to cross depends on how long the rows are.
As a general guideline before I had EZ Steer, I cut an angle at about 11 o'clock or 1 o'clock, with rows being at 12 o'clock. Probably a bit steep, but was easy to figure out.
Now I go about 7 degrees.
