Subject: problem with pipeline company

south texas
We farm in a high petroleum processing area, and has been from times of hand buried lines. I have hauled tons of pipe out of farms buried 0-12" deep. Most is old feild line from multiple wells to common station.

problem i have now is active lines, all from same company, that are less then 12in deep, some laying on top. Freinds in the industry say that they have these line (100s of miles) as feild gathering line so they don't fall under rules of transmission lines. Another friend farms near me hit the line at 10-12" deep. He was seeking compensation for damage to equipment and his lawer told him to walk since this company has local officials in there pocket. I have 2-3 miles of this line on my farms, some owned, most rented, and try to get them to come and mark line. They mostly refuse unless they have a man close. 811 calls get every company calling to check but them. Dont want to endanger lives and eq for their stupidity. My last idea is to use my dads survey metal detector and make gps lines across farms so we dont hit with heavy tools.

Any advise?

Line in pic is worst. If u can see the clump of weeds with white jug, thats the line exposed to air in close pic. This is a 400a farm with about 250 of it affected by line. Line is live with gas, dont know pressure or type.
