Leesburg, Ohio | NH discbines are hard to beat. Bought a used 1431 (13') several years ago, ran it for 6-7 years with good success. Only issues caused by rocks. The older models do not have break-away hubs on the cutter bar. Had to replace a couple gear boxes in the cutterbar as a result. This one had the drawbar hitch extension and CV shaft, so you could pull it down the road with a pickup truck. The CV shaft needed replacing when I traded it.
Traded for a new 7450 (same machine, new number) a few years ago. No issues with rocks so far. It has a different drawbar extension, and a swivel hitch, with no CV shaft. Turns shorter, easier to hook up pto shaft. Can't pull it as easily with a truck on the road. Trouble free so far for about 5 years. We cut about 100 acres of hay plus some stripper straw every year.
This size is the center-pivot type, but the smaller models with side pivot are just as good and reliable. | |
