Stearns County, Minnesota | This all worked as long as there was a sucker buyer number 2 for all machines. Now that that buyer is gone from the market, the lots are full of late model machines, and that brings us to today's mess. Well, not all buyers are gone. I talked to two farmers this week and they are looking for the smallest combine, that JD is currently making, a used one. They both said they checked a lot of lots, and have not been able to find one. One farmer said there was one over in Wisconsin on a farm auction, but he did not want to haul it that far. He said there are all kinds of used combines, but they are the larger ones, which he does not want to buy. It seems like the second and third trade will go pretty well for dealers, but the market beyond that is usually for the smaller machinery. Even with planters, there generally is not much on the dealers' lots in 6, 8, and 12 row used machines. |
