There is a monthly fee because it's another device, $10 or so depending on promotions.
We have fixed wireless as a high speed option that I use at home where more data is consumed streaming and other things but at the shop it's just general surfing and emailing or occasionally YouTube. LTE was much faster then my local option and price competitive for my needs.
