southern MN | This would be the way to do it cheaply. If zoning allows officially live in a trailer, put up a nice shop with a bathroom and office. Don't ever say you will be living in the shop, it adds so very much complexity and inspection to that building..... A nice bathroom and conference office insulated with dinette shelf and fridge isn't a bad place to hang out a lot, without 'living' there.......
This is if you want to save money, build a real house as soon as you can, but get to the property as soon as you can. The trailer will motivate you to keep going on the real house plans; being there will motivate you to move foreward, not settle for another year in town until we sort stuff out or to just stay in the fairly nice shop/house for another year until we get stuff sorted out.....
