Subject: Omaha trip,,, Thanks!

NC Kansas
Just got home this evening from our little vacation. I asked earlier about places to stay and thought I would update on what we did/where we stayed. We stayed at the CountryInn just west of the Horseshoe Casino and just east of the Mid America Center. It was a great place to stay! Clean, excellent staff and amenities. Kids never tried out the pool, too tired each evening.

<<< Saturday when we got to Omaha, we went to the Durham Museum, cruised around Lake Manawa, and cruised the Old Haymarket section Saturday night.

<<< Sunday we took a riverboat tour of the Missouri river (1 hour), and it was very informational and interesting, (well worth the $60 for 4 of us!), then we walked around the Old Haymarket. I was a little excited to see and walk right beside the Baum Iron building in the Old Haymarket district. Call them quite a bit ordering parts with my job. Ended the day with 36 holes of mini-golf.

<<Monday was ZOO Day. Thought the crowd would be smaller, and we think it was, but how can you tell? They have a super zoo, but this time we left feeling a little disappointed. They are doing a lot of construction and many of the exhibits are not open and quite a few animals have been moved to other zoos. If you are planning a trip there, I suggest waiting till later in 2016, as they plan to be done with a lot of it by then. We got there at noon and left at 5:30p.m. We didn't stop but once to rest a bit and watch a demonstration. Next time, we will get there when they open, plan for lunch there and spend the entire day. The high that day was 82 and beautiful. Constantly had to get out of the way of UTV's with all the construction.
<<< Today we had plans to do the SAC Museum, but decided it may be too much. Checked out the Bob Kerry pedestrian bridge over the Missouri River, YES walked it over and back! Headed to Hastings to see my wife's mom on the way, then on home to Beloit,,, 684 miles entire trip, parked and unloaded at home by 6:45.

<<When we left, we still have quite a few things to see another time! The entire trip we noticed the green roadsides and pastures.

Overall a great trip! The one thing I liked the best (hate to admit) is the GPS feature of the wife's phone. After figuring it out, taking it off mute, and then trusting it, life was a lot better. First trip ever without a map! I thought I would never have a smartphone, but???

<<<<<Thanks for all the suggestions, we had a super little vacation with your suggestions! >>>>>>
