I harvested some winter rye for seed about 2 weeks ago. Hauled a bunch of manure on the field and was thinking of put rye back in with some clover and radishes. Would this be a good mix for maybe a little grazing late fall and then chop next spring for forage. If so how much can I graze it but still get good growth to chop next spring. Also if I sprayed with round up and 24d I'm assuming I'd have to wait a week to plant? Or is there a better mix you would recommend. Thanks this is east central iowa

I'm a little out of the area but we tried planting turnips last year for late grazing and it worked well. We will be planting again soon with a triticale turnip mix

sounds like a good plan but i'd wait for a rain after application of 2-4D before radishes. Or is there another broadleaf product that would work that doesn't have residual? I use Harmony SG (old Pinnacle) but maybe that doesn't get all that you want.

How much of the benefit of the clover would you lose by cutting it and bailing it in the spring before planting corn?
