Ok so I'm getting closer to deciding on putting a 5.9 into a Ford PSD with the 6.0. Truck has the manual tranny.

Do most states with counties requiring diesel emission tests require an engine swap of the same year? Say if the pickup is a 2005, would my only choices be an 05 Cummins or a models after that?

I'm not very knowledgeable yet on engine swaps. Is there such a thing as a 24 valve common rail?

I want to avoid having a continuous check engine light problem, so I guess the wiring harness will have to be sent out.

Trying to avoid extra problems.

yes the 2004.5-2007 started the 24 valve common rail engines
