What do these things leave for a needle? If it just falls out, aren't there hardware risks from cattle eating them?
I don't have one, so I may be wrong, but I believe the needle stays fixed to the arrow/dart and the whole works falls out after the injection. I suppose there's still a risk that the needle breaks off in the animal, though?
