Subject: prescription burning

nc ok
Last year I had a neighbor accidentally burn off part of a field that was Milo stubble planted to wheat. It totally wrecked the wheat however this year I planted the farm to Milo again and noticed that the part that burnt had virtually no weed pressure through the pre herbicide. I couldn't say the same for the unburnt portion and it got me to thinking could a prescribed burn at a specific point during a crop rotation help to eleminate the excessive weed seed bank and allow the herbicide to work better .

I think with all the problems that many of us are having with being able to control all the resistant weeds it might be worth losing some residue to ease the weed situation.

I also notice in my area the guys who are 100% wheat and burn their stubble every year before tilling it don't have the weed problems like the notill farms.
