Those are some pretty good gains, the only scary thing is when you get gains over 4lbs a day is what kind of finish are those gains getting, is it still good muscling or just packing on too much fat. The true test is if they get carcass data back to see how they graded out. Just doing some rough math on those numbers you gave and not knowing the exact dates of the weights guessing those 2 gained in the 3.5-4.0 range which is a good rate to gain without packing on too much fat. Been a LONG time since I showed and we didn't show steers but I do remember some judges being critical when you get those extreme gain numbers with rate of gain cautioning that top rate of gain does not always equate to having the best steer or is not the best way to feed out a steer if they are getting too fat that it affects carcass grade.
