My wife got called last winter for a time we had a trip planned, she asked to be excused for that date and would willingly serve at a later date. She was denied and had to call in the night before and didn't have to report the next day but had to call in every night and listen that she was not needed any day that week. Wasted a whole week and never did get that trip.
