Michigan.
A&G Leather.

The gent that makes the belts, understands what he is making, and for whom.
He also gets a fair price for an excellent bit of craftsmanship.

U.S. Leather, stitched right, and holds up darn well to getting sweat soaked, as well as plain old wet on a routine basis.

I have 5 years on one, and it's just as rigid along the length as it was new. No twisting the thing from the weight of a High ride holster, mag pouches, or pliers.
They take a couple weeks to take a set and start conforming to you, sorta like good boots. Once they do, they hold the shape and stay there.

Amish Tack belts are not rigid, and can be folded easily on their length, as well as twisted. They are a heavy leather strap, to hold pants up, nothing more than a length of rope will do.

Before you purchase any belt, that will be used to support weight, put the thing between your index finger and thumb, at the top and bottom edge, and try to pinch the belt into folding along it's length.
The China crap, stuff sold in the box stores, and single layer belts will fold, or close to it, when new. After being worn for a while and stretching, they will fold easy.
The rigidity needed to support the weight, is what is missing on all but the laminated belts out there. You wont find what you are looking for in a single layer belt from anyone.

Give Al a call.
He's good folks on top of everything else.
