I´m useing XP all the time on PC and laptop. As milofarmer said, it`s running just fine and trouble free and saves me from wasting time screwing around with options I do not want or need. Yes someday I will need something else but I do not see this day too close :-) Maybe I´ll go straight to windows 14 then :-) Malware? Over one year after the end of support no attack aiming at XP specifically was reported. I guess there are less XP computers left active meanwhile than Linux or other OS that are considered safe just because they are not windows. I am running Avira free antivirus from time to time but neither found anything yet, nor ran into trouble by malware. Only time I had issues with toolbars and faulty browser settings that was when I intentionally downloaded software from a place that I considered safe. Different OS would not have helped there. I would reinstall XP from scratch anytime if I had to, like in case of hard drive failure or a system corruption after faulty shutdown. |
