Subject: Nitrogen needed to finish off corn crop after VT

Been having a lot of discussions this past week with all my seed dealers and agronomists of how much nitrogen is needed to finish off a corn crop after VT. If you look at charts on Nitrogen uptake we use about 60 % by VT and that would leave 40 % left. One guy told me to use .44 times yield to get a number what is needed to finish off a corn crop. So using that number on 200 bu corn that means 88 lbs of nitrogen needed to finish off the crop. We took nitrate tests this past week and have anywhere from 80 to 110 lbs left. Of course there could be more mineralization of the soil to add more over the next 2 months. So should I be happy or concerned?
