Coles County, Illinois | WAAS is fine for tillage. In my case it's more accurate than I am. You can "get by" with it planting. The trouble with spraying behind it is that your position error is additive. So at times the planter was drifting to the right of a pass and the sprayer is drifting left. Another source of error is an EZ-Steer does not have as good of sense of direction as Trimble's more expensive systems.
I run Raven systems and I have their version of a Trimble 750 and EZ-Pilot running RTX. I had a switch go bad on the display and planted an 80 acre field with their version of a 250. I had the better display back in while I sprayed that field. I could only use auto-steer for short periods of time. Enough time to stretch or check nozzles. When I was done I set a new line on the last pass and drove to the first pass. While planting the system had drifted 34'. In fields where the better system was used for planting and spraying, I maybe nudged it a couple times in an hour. | |
