I'm not sure on the differences of the two. I had to install a new PDF reader on my work computer not that long ago and I think I got stuck with the same thing you got. I'm not a big fan of the new look or interface, but the HP-installed one that was there from before turned unusable on me. Graphics glitches that turned the printing in popup option windows completely black instead of text so I couldn't tell what I was doing at all. Not sure if it was a graphics driver or PDF reader issue but I uninstalled it and put on the Adobe version which isn't the same as what I've got at home. So much for progress. The new Adobe version has graphics glitches on my work computer too but at least it's usable. They're mostly up near the top where menu options write over other stuff a bit messily. I'll blame the crappy built-in Intel graphics chip and its driver.
