If she has a smart phone check out MapMyFitness. It's an app that runs on your phone. They make a bunch of them, MapMyRide, MapMyWalk, etc, etc. They're all the same, just comes up by default for walking, riding, etc.
I've been playing with for a few days and it seems pretty slick.
