Looks like it worked well for you. I just tried a 30' a few days ago to try to get some corn residue chopped up a little more and was not impressed as it wanted to push dirt just like a regular disc. Two issues. 1)The field was worked and fairly loose. 2)The 30' machine is rigid and the wings do not float at all to follow ground contour.
I would like to try the Norwood Kwik-Till as it is operated with the hydraulics in float and with the large tires on the front of the machine should have much better depth control.
Your point about the rigid frame is true. We have a 20 footer and it seems big enough. It all the 285R can handle anyway.
I agree about soft ground pushing a bit. Have to run it pretty light to prevent that.
If you get a chance to run it on unworked stalks, do it. I think you will be impressed. |
